It is no secret that technology is constantly evolving and adapting meaning there is no end to future possibilities.

The next big thing in the pipeline is driverless cars, crazy right?

Not as ridiculous as you might first think – these cars are actively being developed and are believed to be implemented all over the world in less time than you would imagine. The self-drive pods will be tested in locations as close as Milton Keynes and Coventry.

The main purpose of the self-drive cars is to increase road safety and decrease emissions and congestion. The cars will not have to rely on human perception of the dangers on the roads which will prevent accidents and will also be able to drive themselves away once used to a carpark away from the city centre to save vital space on the roads. We all have our favourite SatNav or app to use on your phone to help you get from A to B. However as times are changing and technology is evolving there is now a lot more out there for you to choose from.

We have found some brilliant apps that could save you money, time and most of all sanity when navigating the roads. Most of these are available from the Apple store and Google Play for Android.

You already know how dangerous it is to use your mobile phones while driving your car let alone the points on your licence and fines you could receive so please refrain from using them while you are behind the wheel. Read more »

Abetta drivers are used to the frustrations of making their way around our capital city’s streets but for those who are not so familiar negotiating London’s road network we have compiled the following useful pointers:

  • Always plan your route thoroughly. Don’t rely entirely on your satnav – check if there are any planned roadworks or closures and always carry a detailed street map to help with unexpected detours.
  • Familiarise yourself with the rules around bus lanes and other dedicated routes. The times of operation are clearly signposted and if you use the lanes during these times you run the risk of picking up a Penalty Charge Notice.

At Abetta Couriers we choose our drivers for their winning personalities and unrivalled knowledge of the Hertfordshire and London road networks. But what other talents do they have lurking beneath the surface? For when it comes to their chosen profession they are in very esteemed company. We have been doing a little research and discovered these following famous faces who have all made a living behind the wheel at some point in their lives:

Sir Sean Connery – the famous Scottish actor and producer started his working life as a milkman before joining the Royal Navy. After leaving for health reasons he had a number of different jobs including lorry driver, lifeguard, labourer and artist’s model. Read more »

Choosing the right courier company for your business is absolutely essential. It doesn’t matter how efficiently you have processed a client’s order or how excellent your customer service has been; if your parcel is not delivered when and where you promised, your efforts will have been in vain.

We have therefore compiled a list of useful questions to ask when you are selecting a courier service!

  1. How quickly can you pick up an urgent parcel?
A good courier company should offer almost immediate pick ups.
  2. What are your opening hours? Read more »

You may be aware there is a certain lack of festive cheer being directed towards some of the larger courier companies at the moment. As the busiest period of the year ramps up to its peak, the second largest delivery company in the UK found itself unable to cope with demand. Stories abounded on social media and in the mainstream news about parcels being held in depots for days on end whilst new collections were simply put on hold whilst the backlog was cleared. At Abetta Couriers we think our customers will always opt for the personal service so we are not unduly worried about drones taking over our industry. That said, it’s always interesting to keep up with the latest innovations and we have been following with interest the announcement that drones are being used to deliver parcels commercially. At Abetta Couriers we pride ourselves on delivering your packages quickly and cost-effectively. Of course we are subject to all the same frustrations as any other road user; congestion, road works, adverse weather etc. etc. but what differentiates us from many other courier services is our attention to detail.

As part of the professional service we offer our clients we make sure we are aware of all the scheduled road works and plan our routes accordingly.  Once we know that a particular road will be closed we can work out alternative routes before sending our drivers out. This saves them getting stuck in congestion and ensures your parcels get to their destination on time. Read more »
